Dr Yuen Kwok-yung is the Henry Fok Professor of Infectious Diseases and Chair Professor of Microbiology at the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of The University of Hong Kong (HKU). He is a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Microbiology. Dr Yuen is director of the State Key Laboratory of Emerging Infectious Diseases, established at HKU by China’s Ministry of Science and Technology in recognition of the outstanding contribution made by HKU scientists in response to the SARS outbreak in 2003-04 in both mainland China and Hong Kong.
