Chris Chu Wai-lung is a reader in human resource management at the University of Surrey in the UK. A native of Hong Kong, he obtained his doctorate from Aston University in England. Prior to joining the University of Surrey, he received a Tore Browaldh Foundation (Tore Browaldhs Stiftelse) grant to work at the Stockholm School of Economics in Sweden. His research focuses on work-family interface, strategic human resource management, and leadership. His research has been published in peer-reviewed international journals such as Human Resource Management (FT-45), Journal of Business Ethics (FT-45), Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies (FT-45), Human Performance, and International Journal of Human Resource Management. He is a member of the editorial board of the Asia Pacific Journal of Management (ABS 3*) and a member of the Academy of Management, the Academy of International Business, the Asia Academy of Management and the British Academy of Management.
Leaders have focused on short-term needs and benefits without addressing long-term implications.
